On 27 March, the Microfinance and Community Development Institute (MACDI) had the honor of showcasing its solar energy microfinance scheme at the Energy Innovation Demo Day hosted by New Energy Nexus Vietnam. The event welcomed the presence of more than 150 participants from 5 clean energy projects, as well as investors, energy corporations, startups, community partners, media, university representatives, and students from engineering schools.
MACDI had the opportunity to present its development of the first microfinance program in Vietnam for women and households in suburban areas in Vietnam to access solar energy for their own use as well as for small businesses. Along with MACDI were organizations that offered environmental initiatives in the form of a data analytics solution for solar C&I system, a crowd investment platform for solar C&I projects, a digital platform to connect solar energy residential customers with solar developers to expedite deals, and a model for self-driving cars.
Within the scope of the Vietnam Incubation Program 2019, 4 outstanding start-up teams were provided in-depth business support services for their innovative energy ventures. After 3 intensive training bootcamps over a 4-month period, over 600 hours working closely with mentors and experts of New Energy Nexus, these start-ups were able to validate their business ideas, develop their business plan, design the products and services, and ultimately develop viable and scalable businesses.
MACDI is proud to stand with these incredible innovators and catalysts for a greener, more sustainably powered and empowered Vietnam and looks forward to more meaningful collaborations with clean and renewable energy businesses in the future.
