USAID Green Annamites Project: Sustainable Livelihoods for Conservation and Resilience to Climate Change in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue Provinces

On December, 15th, 2017, “Sustainable livelihoods for Conservation and Resilience to Climate Change in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue Provinces” forum was successfully held by USAID Vietnam in Tam Ky City – Quang Nam Province.

Forest play an important role in protecting basins, erosion control and enhance adaptability for communities. The forests in Truong Son areas is living place for many rare endemic species that can not be found anywhere else in the world. However, many species of them are being disappeared with alarm speed because of people’s livelihood who lives and depend on this resources in this areas.

This project is sponsored by USAID in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue Provinces in order to protect biodiversity which have a value in the world and also helps to improve and diversification livelihood for local communities and ethnic minorities.

This Project is sponsored by USAID from present to 2020 in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces with $24 millions to support converted to smart climate adaptation development and reduce emission by improving forest protection, promoting biodiversity conservation and enhancing the communities sustainable.

Project was designed in order to improve people’s income throughout promoting investment in smart  agriculture with climate, and protecting nature forest and biodiversity in Vietnam.

The expected project’s result are to improve livelihood for 20.000 people who living on forest, improve biodiversity for 400.000 ha nature forest, mobilize at least $20 millions from state resources and private resources to sustainable livelihood development and preserve forest as well as to avoid/or eliminate the emission of approximately seven million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

The participations are private economic sector, organizations which base on communities, trade association and occupations, academic organizations.

Micro-finance Community and Development is non-government organization, the main actives areas: sustainable livelihood development, micro-finance, rural development, environment, climate change, protect environment, health and gender.

We always try best ourselves in order to make a good social responsibility in general side and expected project’s result in private side, not only does it contribute to protect biodiversity but also to enhance sustainable of communities.
