Research On Potential Value Chain Of Agriculture For Ethnic Minorities In Luong Son District – Hoa Binh Province

MACDI realized that although the ratio of poverty had reduced in the recent years, it still was at the high level, particularly was at the rural and mountainous areas. Of which, the North mountainous areas had the highest rate of poverty due to the specifications of land, climate which had impacted badly on agricultural production of people living there. Moreover, people often lived in remote and isolated areas that made them difficult to access to services and science and technology. The production was in traditional ways and the productivity was low. MACDI found it necessary to conduct a research to identify the disadvantages and natural advantages to have the right direction to improve the poor income.

Based on 5 criteria, the experts from MACDI conducted the research on potential value chains of agriculture for the poor living there so that we could found the suitable methods to support them to increase effectiveness in business and production from which improves the living standard for the low income people.

After 1 month and with the experience gained from previous similar research, the experts found out and recommended the value chains which were suitable to producing capacity of the poor.
