USAID experts visit Green Finance Fund Dong Giang project

On 23 August 2019, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) had a field visit and worked with a Dohroong Saving and Credit group (SCGs) in Ta Lu Commune, Dong Giang District, Quang Nam Province. This is one of many typical SCGs that was formed in the project “Sustainable Livelihood through the Green Financial Fund for Forest Protection and Biodiversity Conservation in Dong Giang District” funded by USAID and implemented by the Micro-finance and Community Development Institute (MACDI).

Working with MACDI was Ms. Britanny Thomas, the environmental expert of USAID Vietnam, and Mr. Do Dang Teo – Vice Chief of Green Annamities Project, as well as representatives of Quang Nam Province People’s Committee.

At the meeting, the project coordinator had an updated presentation on the project progress implementation in Dong Giang District. Especially, he emphasized the impressive number that MACDI had completed during the first year of project implementation. The project coordinator also gave updates on the Dong Giang Green Financial Funds (GFF – Dong Giang) and its operation, including typical activities such as training on capacity building for clients, savings amount, the number of clients, and plans for loans for livelihood development, etc. On the other hand, participants had a chance to listen to the community’s ideas and share the difficulties with the project team during the last time. They have a chance to work with a local marketing group (LMGs) and listen to them to practice the trained knowledge to sell their products.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of Ta Lu Commune expressed his gratitude towards USAID and MACDI who had come to support their commune to improve their livelihood and create a good habitat for saving and environment protection as well.
